In March 2007 ACT signed a partnership agreement with the VSO, a well established international development charity that has bee sending out volunteers since 1958 and is currently working in 34 countries.
The VSO is keen to work with ACT to send Diaspora volunteers based in the UK on short assignments of 2 to 6 weeks or longer to work on ACT projects in Africa. In June, ACT and VSO staff travelled to Tanzania to carry out research and needs assessment. The visit was successful and a number of projects were identified for implementation including setting up IT support for local schools in Tanga and Moshi and traing of teachers. ACT and VSO are now working together to secure funding with the aim to sending ut the first set of volunteers in 2008. For further information contact the ACT office.
