Comments Off on RAISING FUNDS FOR ACT… 2016 ACT GOLF DAY
It is possible to make a difference and impact the life of a needy child with very little amounts of money if it is given regularly. Our last blog told the story of a woman who put 50 pence each day in her money box and was able to make regular donations of £15 a month to educate an orphan child in Uganda. She supported him from primary school to completion of a Diploma in Business Studies, nine years later. There is a perception that it is only well-off individuals able to make large donations who have the capacity to impact a life. This is simply not true. We all can make a difference and change the life of a needy child for good.
Taking part in events is another way many ordinary folks are using to raise funds for charity. ACT organizes a number of events each year to raise funds for our projects. In addition to running events such as the Great South Run (read our previous blog), the ACT Golf competition and dinner is another popular annual event that we use to raise funds.
Nearly £6,000 was raised at the 2015 Golf and Dinner event. The funds raised was used to provide education and welfare support for twenty (20) additional children in Awobo-Ipaja, Nigeria bringing the total number of orphans and child led families we support in that community to thirty five (35). We hope we can raise sufficient funds from this year’s Golf Day and Dinner event to increase the numbers of children supported closer to our target of hundred orphans by next March.
The 2016 ACT Golf & Dinner event will take place on 8 September at the Surrey Downs Golf Club, Kingsdown, Surrey.
