Jerome lives with his widowed mother in Ougadougou, Burkina Faso. There are 7 children in the family and they live in a two-roomed hut.
When Jerome's father died in 1995 his mother was regularly unable to provide enough food to feed the family. His father was an only child so there was no possibility of support from his family. Some of the children were at risk of becoming vagrants. Due to the stress of the situation Jerome's mother could not cope and became very depressed. Subsequently she tried to commit suicide several times.
As well as supporting Jerome, ACT is also sponsoring his older brother and a younger sister. The support we give means the family are no longer destitute. Their widowed mother, who is a Christian, knows that God has not forgotten them. Hope has been restored to the family.
