ACT: Supporting Widows

"There is a friend who is closer than a brother"

Working in partnership is key to the approach of ACT in supporting widows and funding the education of fatherless children and orphans in Africa.

ACT is working in partnership with those who are well known and respected within their local communities and are best placed to recognise the families with the most need within the community. These are well established local churches, schools and other Christian organisations who share the same vision of supporting people in need and helping to alleviate poverty within their community.

We support needy widows and children regardless of their religious background. For example ACT is supporting mostly Muslim widows and children in the mainly Muslim community of D’Hamdalaye, Burkina Faso. Our partners select the most needy families from within the community for support. They disperse funds and also oversee the educational development and welfare of the children throughout their school life. ACT is always seeking to form New Partnerships.

Our partners send regular updates about the children and provide financial accounts with explanation of how funds have been utilised. Click here to find out more about our Monitoring and Accountability policy.
