ACT seeks to carry out its objectives by working through local Christian churches or other Christian organisations that are known and are well established within their local communities in African countries. Potential partners must be prepared to work with us towards our vision. The basis of co-operation with our partners will be the shared vision to support the education of the children of widows and the desire to work together towards helping these children to fulfil their potential in life.
The selection of new partners is based on recommendation. Our partners are expected to provide the infrastructure to act as guardians to the sponsored children. In this way they will be able to have a long-term impact on their communities.
The following are key areas of relationship and co-operation with our partners:
• A Care Team or similar ministry team must exist and be recognised within the local Church or in the Christian organisation
• The Church leadership must provide a guarantee that they will work closely to oversee the work of the Care Team and take responsibility for the education and spiritual growth of the children and widows
• Members of the Care Team (ministry team) must be Christians of high integrity to whom ACT trustees can entrust the guardianship of the sponsored children
• Members of the Care Team will under no circumstances take advantage of the widowed mothers or sponsored children or use their position to obtain any advantages for themselves
• ACT trustees require evidence of previous work carried out by the Care Team in the church or within the local community
Further information about becoming an ACT partner is described in the ACT Handbook
