Nigeria borders with Niger Republic to the north, Republic of Benin to the west and Cameroon to the east. It can be accessed via the Atlantic Ocean to the south.
The capital of Nigeria was relocated to Abuja in the 1990’s from Lagos which remains the commercial capital and a major centre for industry. Lagos has a population of well over 5 million people. Most of the major cities of Nigeria are characterised by wealth disparities. Developed city centres display significant affluence but are surrounded by shanty towns where there is abject poverty.
Nigeria is the largest populated country in Africa. With a population of about 120 million people, each Nigerian represents roughly one of every four Africans. Although very rich in petroleum, gas and other natural mineral resources, the country is still classified as poor, with per capita income of less than $400.
ACT partners in Nigeria are the Olive Tree, Lagos and Victory Church, Ilaro. Both are parishes of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
